Kindikids delivers exceptional child-centred education across all centres, with all standard inclusions such as meals and nappies, and a comprehensive program of extra-curricular activities and incursions.
Education
Our education program is formed by the learning environment, experiences, activities and routines.
It is holistic, child-centred and play-based and accelerates the child’s learning and development. Our primary educators engage in the planning cycle, observing children’s interests, and facilitating their continuity of learning.
Eating Healthy
Healthy eating is important for the growth, development and wellbeing of young children and Kindikids is committed to promoting and supporting healthy food and drink choices for children in our care.
We adopt and implement the Healthy Eating Guidelines for early childhood settings and have also embedded the key messages about eating healthy into our education program.
All food is prepared and cooked on-site daily and includes:
- Breakfast
- Morning Tea
- Lunch (and Fruit)
- Afternoon Tea
- Late Snack
Our menu is adjusted to meet dietary and cultural requirements and follows Australian Government Guidelines.

Transitioning to Kindikids
Organise an Orientation Play Session
We recommend planning a play session before your child starts at Kindikids to give them a chance to explore their new environment and be comfortable.
As your child’s first day approaches, we recommend scheduling one or two orientation play sessions with your Centre Director to give your child the opportunity to explore their new environment before starting. During a 30-minute orientation play session, children are encouraged to participate in the room routine and activities, while families can interact with our friendly team. This helps everyone get to know each other and ensures a smooth transition for your child.
Settling in during the first few weeks at Kindikids
The friendly team at Kindikids will work with you to make the settling-in process as smooth as possible. We encourage you to discuss with the team your child’s:
- Interests
- Routines
- Rituals
- Cultural Identity
How to support your child to settle in
Starting childcare can be an emotional experience for families and children. Children can often experience difficulty settling into a new environment, particularly if they find it hard to separate from family members. Here are some suggestions to help support your child:
We encourage you to remain with your child when delivering or collecting them for as long a period as you and the team feel may be necessary to ensure your child’s wellbeing.
Spend some time settling your child into a favourite activity or breakfast to ease them into their environment.
Let us know what comforts your child and discuss how you manage activities or times of the day they find unsettling. For example, does your child have a comfort item that helps them to settle?
Show your child that you feel secure about leaving them at Kindikids and that you trust the team. Say ‘goodbye’ confidently and reassure them that you will be back later. While it may be tempting to leave while they are engaged happily in play, it can be very distressing for your child to realise you have left without saying goodbye.
If possible, start with shorter days then gradually increase their time spent at Kindikids.
Contact us at any time to check how your child is settling in.
At the end of the day, your child may be tired and need some downtime as our environment can be quite stimulating. This might be longer naps, quiet play or an earlier bedtime.
What to bring
Ensuring your child has everything they need can ease the excitement and anxiety of their first day at Kindikids. Every item should be clearly labelled with their name.
What to pack
The following items will ensure your child has everything they need:
- Backpack – A good quality backpack, with some pockets to help sort items, a tag with your child’s name and a design that is easily recognisable to you and your child.
- Spare clothes - This includes shirts, pants, jacket, socks and underwear. For toilet trainers, we recommend packing 5 pairs of underwear, along with extra pants and shoes.
- Water bottle - While water stations are available in each room, having a personal water bottle is also helpful.
- Formula, bottles, and settling-in items - for children aged 0-2 years only.
- Medication – If your child is required to take medication, either regularly or once off, it must have a chemist label that includes administering details and handed directly to a staff member. It must not be kept in their bag.
What to wear
Clothing must be:
- Weather-appropriate - Dress your child in layers to adapt to changing weather conditions throughout the day.
- Sun protective - Ensure clothing covers children’s shoulders—singlets and tops with straps are not permitted.
- Safe for play - Avoid hoodies, scarves, and any jewellery such as necklaces or amber beads, as they can be a safety hazard.
Footwear must be:
- Enclosed and appropriate - opt for sneakers or enclosed sandals. Slides, thongs, and crocs are not permitted.
What not to bring
Food and toys from home are not permitted at the centre. Please do not keep either of these items in your child’s bag or let them have it with them at drop-off.
Food is always available for the children and we cannot support outside food due to food allergies that for some children can cause an anaphylaxis reaction.
You won’t need to bring the following items as they are provided by Kindikids and are kept at the centre for your child:
- UV Protected Bucket Hat
- Blanket Bag
- Art and Craft Folder
